ERRATUM

Rupp, C. I., Fleischhacker, W. W., Hausmann, A., Mair, D., Hinterhuber, H. and Kurz, M. (2004) Olfactory Functioning in Patients with alcohol dependence: impairments in odor judgements. Alcohol and Alcoholism 39, 514–519.

The publisher wishes to apologise to the authors for printing the following in the abstract on page 514:

Although the basis of these deficits is still unknown, our finding of a distinct pattern of olfactory functional impairment, with spacing of perception of pleasantness and familiarity, suggests that there is no generalised olfactory impairment but that, neural olfactory networks may be affected differently.

The following should have been printed:

Although the basis of these deficits is still unknown, our finding of a distinct pattern of olfactory functional impairment and sparing (intensity, pleasantness) suggests that there is no generalized olfactory dysfunction, but neural olfactory networks may be affected differently. However, alcoholism appears to be associated with a variety of disturbances in olfactory processing.
